What's On Barcelona: 29th - 31st May

Bon Dia!

I hope you’ve had a good week.

Last night we hosted another Dinner Club, where small groups of strangers were matched for dinner by a personality quiz, & didn’t feel like strangers for long.

Thanks to everyone who came. We’ll be running another next month in Gracia.

If you’re into Padel, today (Thursday) is the last day to visit the Padel World Summit.

And it’s hard to stay cool in this heat, but a very clever person has created an interactive map that shows whether Barcelona’s streets & terraces will be in the sun or shade at a specific date & time, helping you pick the perfect spot to sit outside.

As for this weekend, here’s What’s On.

Catalonia Beyond Fuet: Two Catalan Artists For Primavera [AD]

Whether you’re heading to Primavera Sound (which starts next Wednesday) or just pretending you have tickets, here are two Catalan artists you should add to your playlist:

Ven'nus: perfect for those main-character melancholic moments. Her sound mixes indie pop, electronic textures and dreamy, intimate lyrics that feel like a 2am walk home.

Start with Vinya del mar. She recently teamed up with Catalan band Al·lèrgiques al Polen to cover the iconic 60s love song Paraules d’amor by Joan Manuel Serrat.

Ouineta: for days when your brain feels like a glittery internet tab moving at 200 km/h. Her mix of experimental pop, hyperpop & electronic sounds feels futuristic, chaotic & weirdly addictive, in the best way possible.

Listen to DM’s, with the chorus: “M’agrades tant, tant, tant…” (“I’m so, so, so into you…”). She also just dropped Nois (Boys) with her girlfriend Mushkaa, one of the biggest names in the Catalan urban scene right now.

Now you have 1 week to learn all the lyrics ahead of Primavera Sound. Good luck!

Plan Ahead: Montjuïc’s Olympic Pool Reopens Next Week

What’s On: It’s HOT right now. But next week you’ll be able to cool off in Montjuïc’s Olympic pool as it reopens to the public for summer on Saturday 6th June.

Known for its panoramic city views, being the filming location of Kylie Minogue’s ‘Slow’, and the place I once got one of the worst sunburns of my life (so yes, wear suncream).

📅 When: From Saturday 6th June until September
📍 Where: Piscines Municipals Montjuïc

For more info see here → (says opens 8th June, but I emailed them & they told me 6th)
